My sincere condolences for the loss of Dr. Lourdes Coutinho. May her soul rest in peace and the family and friends who knew her and were part of her life, to be strong and healthy and remember her for her kindness, generosity, love and care.

Saying goodbye to my godmother, Lou, is a difficult moment. I am deeply grateful for the kindness, love, and support she shared with me. Lou had a special way of making those around her feel valued, and I will always cherish the moments we spent together. Her warmth and generosity will stay in my heart, and I’ll always be thankful for the positive impact she had in my life.

Aunty Lou had one of the strongest minds I've ever encountered. Resilient, generous, and caring, she was a trailblazer who achieved so much at a time when such accomplishments were not readily accessible to women, especially women of colour. Despite her condition, she used her intellect to make the most of every situation. Not long before she passed, she communicated her comfort and enjoyment of retirement. I'll always remember her dedication to certain exercises to maintain her mobility and prevent further symptoms, and her wonderful sense of humour, like when she burst out laughing at someone (who shall remain unnamed) during a Christmas photo last year. Lou was my Godmother. She was hugely supportive to me growing up and beyond. In her actions she was encouraging and also a huge friend to my parents. She was everything a Godmother should be. RIP

So many memories of A. Lou. Some good .....some more challenging all super interesting. A formidable woman who lived her life the way she wanted to live it but always cared for our family and helped all of us on our lives culturally, medically, financially, emotionally... thanks for all your support when both mum and dad were ill .. less thanks for those extremely painful injections!!! With love ....

My most enduring memory of Aunty Lourdes was when my grandmother's passed away. She brought the largest tin of coffee I've ever seen and said "You'll have lots of visitors, you'll be glad of this." She was right, we were. I also remember her tightly hugging me and my sisters on the day of the funeral, saying "It will get better with time." She was right about that too. I'll always be grateful for her practical help and understanding of our confusion and sorrow as children as this first family funeral. RIP Aunty Lourdes.
